ABOUT ME
Hi, I'm Zadé Helena Landegger, MS, LCAT, ATR-BC (they/them/siya). I'm a non-binary artist, Licensed Creative Arts Therapist, and mental health advocate with over a decade of experience working at the intersection of mental health, social justice, and community arts.
I believe that creativity is one of the ways we remember who we are. Long before we have the words for our experiences, we draw, move, imagine, build, and create. Whether we're making art, exploring stories, or sitting together in quiet reflection, I strive to create spaces where people feel safe enough to reconnect with themselves, their communities, and the futures they want to imagine.
My approach is grounded in trauma-informed care, social-emotional learning, and culturally responsive practices that honor the many ways our identities and lived experiences shape who we are. Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of working alongside QTBIPOC individuals, families of immigrants, adoptees, multicultural and multiracial communities, people living with disabilities or chronic illnesses, and those navigating grief, depression, anxiety, trauma, and major life transitions.
As both a therapist and teaching artist, I'm passionate about helping people build resilience through creativity, connection, and self-compassion. I currently serve as a Teaching Artist with A Reason To Survive (ARTS) and provide individual and family psychotherapy through my private practice, Zahabi Creative Arts Therapy, as well as through Footprints Mental Health Counseling, a New York City–based clinic.
I don't believe healing means becoming someone new. I believe it's about gently finding your way back to yourself. To the parts that have always been creative, worthy, and capable of growth. My hope is that our work together helps you feel more connected to your strengths, your values, and the life you want to create. Sometimes that journey begins with a conversation. Sometimes it begins with a paintbrush. Either way, you don't have to do it alone.

What is Art Therapy?
Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy that blends talk therapy with the power of creative expression. Through art-making, metaphor, and storytelling, you are supported to discover new ways of understanding yourself and your experiences—building a greater sense of self-agency and compassion along the way.
In session, the act of creating becomes a way to synthesize experience, trauma, and emotion into something transformative. You don’t need to be an artist or have any prior art experience—everyone is welcome, and there is no “wrong” way to make art. Sometimes, the art itself can unlock expressive needs we didn’t know we had, offering a voice to parts of ourselves that have long been waiting to speak.
What to Expect in a Virtual Session
Virtual art therapy sessions take place through a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform depending on your insurance and scheduling needs. Before our session, you'll receive a private link to join from the comfort of your own space. You don't need to be an artist or have special art supplies. Many clients use simple materials like paper and pencils, though we can also incorporate whatever creative materials you have available. Together, we'll explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences through conversation, creative expression, and mindfulness at a pace that feels supportive and comfortable for you.
